East West Rail
Key details
-Strategic advice to maximise value from infrastructure schemes
-Multibillion rail scheme connecting Oxford to Cambridge via Milton Keynes.
-Purpose of the scheme is to unlock large-scale housing growth and associated regional development.
We advised East West Rail Limited on Station Identity & Purpose. This included advising on the optimal location for new stations to maximise the effect on housing growth and development and analysing station purpose; utilising our proprietary digital analytic tool, as well as drawing on our placemaking expertise, to categorise stations and develop individual station personas across the route whilst maintaining end-to-end consistency with EWR’s brand.
This all supported EWR’s focus on customer-centricity, influencing the design and development of stations that enhance the customer experience. In addition, we advised on commercial value maximisation opportunities, ranging from on-station to over-site development.
Airport City Manchester
Key details
– Multi-disciplinary advice in relation to the ongoing development of Airport City Manchester, the global gateway to and from the Northern Powerhouse.
- Detailed research to position the airport development scheme in an international context.
- Instructed to secure a joint venture partner, involving an international search for potential partners.
The comprehensive financial model created by CBRE became a crucial part of the procurement strategy and evaluation process. The perception of the location, a lack of existing pre-lets / demonstrable market demand, challenging market conditions and significant infrastructure costs were significant challenges which needed to be overcome. The success of Airport City and BCEGI’s involvement played an integral role in delivering direct flights from Manchester to Beijing (Shanghai has since followed).
