Bedford Borough Council, advised by CBRE, has today launched a landmark public-private partnership opportunity for the redevelopment of Mayes Yard, a major regeneration site in the town centre. The proposed scheme will deliver around 250 new homes alongside vibrant commercial space, forming a dynamic new cultural and residential hub that is set to catalyse further investment and development across Bedford.
Located in a strategically important area of the town centre, the Mayes Yard project will build on ongoing regeneration efforts and play a central role in shaping the next chapter of Bedford’s economic and cultural renewal. The Council is inviting expressions of interest from developers to partner in delivering this transformative scheme.
The Council’s ambition is to create a distinctive, high-quality development that supports a sustainable mix of uses, attracts new visitors and residents, and enhances the character of the town centre. The inclusion of flexible ground floor commercial space and a new library will encourage creative industries, retail, food and beverage operators, and community use.
The Mayes Yard initiative is aligned with Bedford’s wider regeneration strategy and leverages recent investment through initiatives such as the Town Deal. The launch marks a major step forward in realising the Council’s commitment to delivering homes, jobs and opportunities for Bedford’s communities.
