Announced in today’s Autumn Budget, the Government’s Strategic Sites Accelerator (SSA) has entered its next phase of delivery with the launch of its Investment Strategy and a first Call for Projects. The application window will remain open until 20 January 2027.

The SSA is a flagship Government initiative designed to unlock complex, high-potential industrial and commercial sites across the UK. The programme will deploy around £700m of public capital between the National Wealth Fund (NWF) and Office for Investment (OfI), to support reindustrialisation through the acceleration of nationally important strategic investment sites, over the next three years.

The scheme will prioritise sites that support the UK's industrial strategy priority sectors, demonstrate credible market demand and have the potential to deliver significant investment and economic growth, but require intervention to become investable or development ready.

Through a combination of non-financial support, grant funding, and minority equity or debt investment, the programme will help address key barriers to development, including fragmented ownership, infrastructure constraints and viability challenges.

The programme will be delivered jointly by the OfI and the NWF. As National Delivery Partner, CBRE will support the OfI in delivering the programme, providing specialist commercial, investment, real estate and technical expertise. CBRE will work in partnership with Turner & Townsend, part of the CBRE Group, as part of a wider delivery team.

The Strategic Sites Accelerator is a market-necessary vehicle for unlocking and accelerating our country’s sites of national, and indeed international, importance. The essential combination of the Office for Investment and National Wealth Fund’s capital capabilities and financial and technical skills, supported by our role as National Delivery Partner, will deliver a next generation of strategic investment sites that will respond to the challenge laid down in the Industrial Strategy.
