The mainstream London sales market was muted in Q2 2026, with rising mortgage interest rates and geopolitical uncertainty weighing on buyer demand. Higher mortgage costs for first-time buyers should add to rental demand and rental growth in the near term, as more would-be purchasers stay in the rental market for longer.
Prime Central London showed a split picture. The market recorded the highest number of sales in a single quarter since 2024, but achieved sales values fell by 6.4% year-on-year on a £psf basis.
