Maintaining state-of-the-art facilities for groundbreaking life sciences research at the Francis Crick Institute
The Francis Crick Institute employs 1500 staff, including 1250 scientists, operates a budget of over £100m a year, consists of 12 floors (4 levels below ground and 8 above) with over 1000 rooms on site and a floor space of 93,000 m2 – almost 1 million sq ft.
We introduced a combined heating power plant (CHP), photovoltaic cells on the roof and energy-efficient lighting. The whole system was automated and is managed by our teams. As a result, the institution was awarded a BREEAM excellent rating.
