CBRE was appointed alongside Barclays to sell a 30% stake in in Willmott Dixon’s residential development business, tasked with finding a buyer to both add value and fit culturally with the 160-year-old family business. Through having a thorough understanding of the clients strategic interests, CBRE ended up selling a majority 70% stake in the business to Malaysian developer EcoWorld International.

This quadrupled EcoWorld’s presence in the UK and provided them with an integrated operating platform, development management expertise and 12 Greater London and South East residential development sites, fulfilling EcoWorld’s desire to become a truly international residential developer.

What could have been a relatively simple underwriting exercise instead became a major capital event, using an unrivalled combination of CBRE’s real estate and financial expertise including Planning, Development, Debt Advisory, Valuation and Strategic Advisory to undertake a capital event that was ground-breaking for the industry.
