European investment volumes reached a new record in 2018, surpassing the previous high-point set in 2017. Four countries set individual records, while Alternatives exceeded €100bn for the first time.

Investor appetite for European real estate is at an all-time high therefore, and the spectrum of choice available to investors is widening all the time. Our Four Quadrants report looks at the themes dominating in the public and private debt and equity markets, and the different journeys likely to be enjoyed by investors choosing these routes to real estate market exposure.

Whether attracted by discounts to underlying asset values of “mainstream” assets in the public (and increasingly private) equity quadrants, to growth prospects in alternative sectors, or to the downside protection afforded by forms of real estate debt, investors will be confident in finding something in the real estate landscape to allow them to satisfy any risk and reward appetite.
