Sophie Stocker"I joined the CBRE graduate scheme in 2015 after graduating with a dual-accredited degree in Development Planning. One of the reasons I chose CBRE was to gain an understanding of planning’s role in the wider property market and to work for a leading real estate firm.

"As a graduate, I am involved in a range of projects primarily across the South East, which means that my role varies on every project. As a graduate on small-scale projects, my main responsibility would be preparing and submitting planning applications and liaising with the project team, whilst on larger schemes, I would have more of a research and supporting role, monitoring key development plan documents for policy changes that may influence our scheme. This range of projects has provided great experience for my APC.

"Working at CBRE has given me a great grounding in planning and the wider real estate market. The aspect I enjoy most about my job is being able to walk past a building and know that you had an input into creating it. I also enjoy the variety of projects and level of exposure I am given at a junior level. Planning has been at the forefront of government policy changes recently and I would recommend to anyone starting out that you keep abreast of these changes and think about how they might impact the industry in the future."
