One year into our partnership with our UK charity partner, Action for Children, we’ve already fundraised an incredible £350,000.

This means that Action for Children has been able to hire Elinor, the first of five CBRE-funded transition workers who will work directly with young people in the UK who are transitioning from foster care into independent living.

These specialist workers will provide essential practical and emotional support with the aim of stopping young adults leaving care from slipping into homelessness, unemployment and other challenges.

transitional workerOur new transition worker, Elinor, said “My focus is to help young people to develop the skills and knowledge of what is needed to live independently as well as understanding the support networks and opportunities available to them. Most of the young people I have met so far have needed help with applications, figuring out what they want to do career wise, and help with budgeting their money.”

This is the first time Action for Children has been able to provide this kind of support to young people in the care system.

"Thanks to CBRE, we are now providing essential support to young people who desperately need our help. Due to the level of funds already raised we are now in the process of hiring our second transition worker who will be based in Glasgow, and we look forward to hiring a further three foster transition workers across the UK."
