Opportunity
The NEC Group, founded in 1976, is one of the world’s leading venue management companies. It operates four entertainment venues in Birmingham - the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), the International Convention Centre, the Genting Arena (formerly the LG Arena) and the Barclaycard Arena (formerly the NIA). In 2015 the NEC Group was acquired by Lloyds Development Capital, enabling the Group to enter a period of unprecedented growth and investment.
The NEC Group planned to consolidate its mechanical and electrical (M&E) maintenance and selected facilities management services and work with a single partner who could offer a wide range of expertise. The Group valued a collaborative approach and emphasised the importance of enhancing its customers’ experience.
Solution and Outcomes
CBRE delivers a hard-services led solution that focuses on the delivery of high-quality M&E maintenance, building fabric, temporary mains, postal and garage services across all four NEC Group venues. Our commitment to the Group’s values and ‘one team’ approach is crucial to the overall goal of delivering an outstanding customer experience.
Over the years, the success of CBRE’s partnership with the NEC Group has been recognised with the presentation of a number of awards by the Group’s executive team. CBRE’s contract was also extended by six years, in recognition of the close working relationship that it developed with the NEC Group. Its role expanded to include property consultancy and a framework for a major refurbishment project.
