Environment Code

Reducing environmental impact

The IPD Environment Code launched 26 February 2008

On 26 February 2008, the IPD, supported by CB Richard Ellis, launched an Environmental Code, which is a standardised framework for the collection, measurement and analysis of environmental data.

The Code provides guidance on how to approach the collection of environmental data and ensures a consistent approach across the occupier market.  Furthermore, it will be easy to map the Code with global reporting methods, such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

In time, it is hoped that all corporate executives will utilise the Code to its full potential, creating greater transparency across the sector, with the publication not only covering energy usage but also water, waste and other environmental sustainability issues.
